Consolation at the Death of Friends-2

In today’s meditation, we pick up where we left off last time with Johann Gerhard and finding consolation at the death of loved ones or friends. Here Gerhard gives us a uniquely Christian way of looking at death. Death itself is far from “natural.” In fact, it is our fiercest enemy. But because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, death has become a gateway, or, as Gerhard says, a “port of safety.” Here Gerhard explains what he means.

This meditation, and the other meditations in this series, is dedicated in loving memory to my father, Larry Asburry, who was called to his eternal rest on November 28, 2017.
