Johann Gerhard has exhorted us to cultivate true humility–first, by pondering our condition as human beings, and second, by considering the example of Jesus Himself. In this fourth and final meditation, Gerhard exhorts us to take the servant’s place with Christ and cover the fire of our love for God with the ashes of humility.
